  • Sizing of nonspherical particles and core-shell particles by measuring the light scattering pattern with high spatial and temporal resolution.

  • Methods
  • Development of a new technique to measure optical properties by linking an Abbe refractometer to a CCD array.
  • Mie-theory to compute the light scattered by coated particles. Therefore, the program SCATAP was developed.
  • Designing a new experimental setup consisting of a laser light source known from laser Doppler anemometry (LDA) and a multiple detecting system, a CCD line sensor. This permits very precise measurements of particle size and velocity.
  • Optimized data evaluation in the frequency domain by the Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT), Power Spectrum Estimation (PSE), Hough-Transform, and others (with Christian Stuht).
